Choose to get up & on the path to fulfilment...

Are you stuck sitting down, overanalysing, instead of getting up and taking that first step towards greater self understanding leading to greater peace and happiness?

Dear friend,

Great to see that you are struggling mightily and giving it the good fight rather than hanging up your gloves and retiring to a corner of life to wallow in uncertainty, self recriminations and unhappiness. You are a great person with a huge heart and capacity to love. When you are in power, wow! You really shine! And I have seen you shine as bright as any star in the human constellation.
I thought that you had great courage to hang in there in the pursuit of self understanding. When the conflict arises between the head and the heart, the easiest thing to do would be to cut and run. You won't be the first to do it in life if you did and you did not. So again one up for you on the steps towards greater happiness and peace. You are tougher than you give yourself credit for.

You are an honest person with high integrity and you know what is or is not good for you. As we always say, all the answers you need you already have. The important thing is that you be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself as you make your way through life. There will always be ups and downs. The important thing is to keep the right perspective and stay centered as you integrate your core values into your life amidst the storms that toss you back and forth and threatened to wreck havoc on your mind and physically. The mind is so powerful that massive amounts of negative thoughts can actually manifest in headaches, vomiting and illness. They even have a word for it ; psychosomatic - a physical disorder caused by emotions.
It is normal to feel all that you have felt. You are neither weird nor abnormal. What you experienced is just being a human being in the process of living a life on purpose. It is always a struggle to be your authentic self. It is a constant fight that Leo Buscaglia says you will have to fight for the rest of your life. If you give up, what else have you got?
Don't go into comparison with others as to the rate of your progress. This is your life and your own journey and you will do best to travel at the pace you need to to get what you want out of the whole process of living your authentic self and a meaningful existence. Decide what is best for you. Be aware that you are not numbing or hiding out so as to avoid what need doing. It is always easier to give up. Your friends see the best that is in you and wishes for you happiness and peace and a life of fulfillment and purpose. I know that I do.
I see in you a wonderful caring person with a loving heart who in her fullest power will be a force for contribution and positive change. I see you as a great human being living a life of purpose and ever expanding love for self and all around you.
Nothing and no one can stop you from fulfilling your purpose and living life to the fullest, except yourself. You have the power to choose. Take time to reflect and journal. Practice your core values in all you do. Do some positive affirmations daily. Believe in yourself as you do have the courage to make the tough choices and stick to the path that you have chosen. Set your intentions and be clear in yourself what you are choosing to do, otherwise it is easy to get stuck in the ego of "martyr", "victim" or "blame" (a mythical brother of our good friend Lay Hian who is a close friend of many of us. We named him Lay Blame.). You have friends; when you need support call a CV family friend or someone you feel is the right person at that moment. Make sure that the person you call on is energetically higher than you so you don't get into a "misery loves company" situation. Allow others to help you and in the process teach them that it is alright to seek help.
So what do you choose to do with your one wonderful opportunity to live life to the fullest?

Fear

We all handle our fears in many different ways. And many of these strategies are unconscious.

You may have noticed that some people get very loud in public and it may appear that they are showing off. In our seminar in Kuching recently, one acted the buffoon and was disruptive whenever other participants show some emotion. A couple of others laughed and joked when the process gets serious and others are getting deep into their feelings. Here in Brunei, many are sending messages and using their hand phones when the sharing of experiences are heartfelt. And when some of us were traveling in China together, a couple of us went into a "martyr", "I am just a small inconsequential person" mode of behaviour.

If you can look past this behaviour then you will understand that they are suffering from a deep seated insecurity. They have a fear of facing who they truly are; a caring human being who has love and great personal power. This fear comes from the possibility of being hurt as they may have had a negative past experience. Leo Buscaglia wrote that to love is to be vulnerable. And yet only in this vulnerability will we enjoy the happiness and fulfilment of our human potential.

So how are you handling your fears? Are you aware of your strategies to mask this fear from others?

4th July 2007

Wow...just look at the days go by! The second part of the year just started and it will be December before we realise it! This weekend we have Core Value Training Brunei at The Empire Hotel. We have pretty full classes. We just completed two weekends of classes in Kuching, Malaysia that were awesome just like the one in Taipei, Taiwan three weeks ago. Every class seem to be better than the last one if that is possible. I guess there seem to be an acceleration in the heightened awareness of the participants and this increases every CV session!

So where are you in your practice of awareness?
